Writing it Today

There are no rules when it comes to writing creatively, which is what can make it so difficult to navigate, but it’s also what makes it so personal, evocative, and magical.

So this isn’t a rulebook membership. It’s a collection of hints, exercises, and priceless nuggets of information I’ve picked up over my years of writing, editing, and publishing.

Writing

There are no strict rules when it comes to writing creatively. It’s not like putting up an Ikea Billy Bookshelf or being taught how to drive a car.

But finding ways to express yourself creatively comes in all forms - plot, character, style, setting… and in order to do it well it takes practise and guidance.

Inside you’ll find ideas on coming up with plots, how to master the blank page, writing consistently, finding your voice and a whole lot more…

Editing

Your creative self was let off a leash and you have a finished piece of work.

Well done…

But now the hard work starts.

Self-editing isn’t the most fun part of being a writer, but here it’s broken down into bitesized, easy to follow pieces that almost make it pleasurable… almost!

Publishing

Whether you’re looking to self-publish or submit to an agent or publisher, you’ll find handy hints inside.

Examples of successful submission letters, synopses, and feedback from agent/publisher.

Why me?

Like many authors, writing about myself is not my favourite past-time, but here we go…

I am the best-selling author of uplifting romantic fiction, short-listed for the Romantic Novelists’ Association award for New Writers. With a degree and master’s in psychology and therapy, it’s the humanity of the characters that lead my plots.

I am successfully both traditionally and self-published.

I signed my first traditional, two-book deal during the pandemic directly with a digital publisher and learnt a lot from this experience.

More recently, I have signed with an agent and my third book has been pre-empted for a multi-five figure deal.

As traditional publishing is a sloooow business, and I am a quick writer (and a control freak, not gonna lie!) I self-publish under a pen name and can now call writing. my full-time job.

I wear every hat for my self-published titles - writer, editor (though I do hire editors too, very important), cover designer, blurb writer, publisher, marketer, tea maker…

And I can’t wait to pass forward what I’ve learnt on my ongoing journey with you.
